As soon as ordering to imprison royal concubine Phi Yen, Nguyen Anh was informed that the Tay Son army was going to Con Dao, he and his entourage climbed into the boat to continue to flee. At that time, the only child of Lady Phi Yen and Lord Nguyen Anh – Prince Cai (5 years old), because of crying for his mother, was thrown overboard by his father – Lord Nguyen Anh, and his body washed ashore towards Co Ong village.
Cau Temple (Thieu Gia Temple) was built to commemorate the filial piety of Prince Cai – about his motherly love to Mrs. Phi Yen. This place received residents’ attraction and worshipped regularly. Therefore, up till now, tourists to Con Dao often come to Co Ong village to visit the tomb and temple of Prince Cai; sit and listen to residents here telling sacred stories about motherhood.
