On March 12, 2025, Phu Quy Express announced that it will temporarily suspend operations on the Phan Thiet City – Phu Quy Island sea route (and vice versa) in order to operate on the Saigon – Con Dao route (and vice versa).

According to the operator, the suspension is to facilitate the replacement of the vessel with a newer, faster, more modern one that offers better service quality. The upgrade aims to shorten travel time, enhance maritime safety, and provide greater comfort for passengers. The temporary suspension is expected to last for 12 months.

After ceasing operations on the Phu Quy Island route, the Phu Quy Express high-speed ferry has been deployed to operate on the Saigon – Con Dao route.
